Bidet lovers rejoice! Toto’s Washlet toilet seat REALLY is a great alternative to a true bidet. Many of my clients have enjoyed the benefits of a bidet during their travels abroad and have asked me how to fit this luxury into their bathroom remodels. I have seen MANY cheap imitations on the market, but Toto has finally come up with a retrofit product that gets my stamp of approval.
A standard bidet is a separate plumbing fixture who’s function is to aid in personal hygiene. The Toto Washlet toilet seat actually improves on the old style bidet by adding several features to your standard toilet bowl such as a heated seat and oscillating warm water spray that is adjustable in both temperature and flow.
Keep in mind you will need an outlet close by to power your Washlet (the manufacturer also recommends a surge protector.) There are several models available that supposedly fit other manufacturer’s toilets but – for the best fit and appearance I recommend getting a Toto toilet, too.
